Cheyenne Youth Groups Take a Stand for Morality and Decency

"Victoria's Secret has no secrets," stated Ashley Vandeberghe from Power Station Ministries' youth group. Wednesday evening approximately 20 teenagers formed a circle and prayed, then two by two went into the store and politely asked the manager of the store to remove the offensive posters hanging in the front windows.

"These posters degrade our young women and poison our generation with an immoral view of women" was repeated each time the youths entered the store. Each pair of youths was handed a phone number for the client relations office and asked to stop coming in and harassing the store.

Youth leaders stated, "This is not about Victoria's Secret's ability to sell their products or to engage in free enterprise. This is about their marketing strategies which entice young women to use their bodies in an immoral fashion that ultimately degrades them and leaves young women with a distorted perception of their self-worth."

Pastor Danny Nicodemus of Power Station Ministries stated, "We hope that our actions tonight will inspire more young people to stand up for morality, decency, and respect for our young women and men."

Although these young citizens of Wyoming were courteous, polite, and direct; the store manager called security to stop the youth from continuing with their requests. Thankfully the security detail was side-tracked by K2 News journalist Mick Birge as the manager also had complained about his videotaping of the store. Mick Birge was there to provide news coverage for these brave youth as they took their stand for Christ. Mick stood his ground and politely asked the security detail what crime he was breaking.

Once security was on scene, it was decided by the group that their job was done. It is now in the hands of the citizens of Cheyenne and Wyoming.

Scripture states in Philippians 4:8 " Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - mediate on these things."

Do you agree with these youth standing up for morality and pureness in our society? If you do, please contact Victoria's Secret's client relations at (614) 577-7111 and ask them to remove their posters from the public viewing in the front of their store.

These kids took a stand for what they believe to be right and true to their faith. They were willing to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Let's continue to pray for them and continue to encourage these children of God as they grow in their faith and serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
